How to Configure a CNAME DNS Record for Your White-Label Subdomain
Last updated: April 15, 2026
Configuring a CNAME record allows you to use your own branded domain (such as app.yourcompany.com or dash.yourcompany.ai) instead of a generic platform domain. This is essential if you want to deliver a fully white-labeled experience to your users, increase brand trust, ensure proper routing and secure access to your environment. Without a correctly configured CNAME record, your subdomain may fail to connect.
Before you begin
Make sure you have:
Access to your domain’s DNS management panel
The CNAME target value provided by your Success Manager
Step 1: Access Your DNS Provider
Log in to the DNS management panel for your domain. This is usually managed by your domain registrar or hosting provider, such as:
Cloudflare
GoDaddy
Namecheap
Gandi
OVHcloud
Bluehost
Look for a section called DNS Settings, DNS Management, or Advanced DNS.
Step 2: Add a New CNAME Record
Navigate to the DNS records section.
Click Add Record or Create New Record.
Select CNAME as the record type.
Configure the record fields
Host / Name
Enter only the subdomain portion (not the full domain):
Value / Target
Enter the CNAME target provided by your Success Manager.
🚨 Important Notes
The CNAME record must point only to the provided custom domain.
Remove any existing CNAME or A records for the same subdomain before saving.
Conflicting DNS records will cause setup failures or unexpected behavior.
Step 3: Save and Apply Changes
Once all fields are complete:
Click Save, Apply Changes, or Confirm (wording varies by provider).
Step 4: Wait for DNS Propagation
DNS changes are not instant.
Most updates resolve within a few minutes;
In some cases, propagation can take 24–48 hours worldwide.
You can check propagation status using tools like dnschecker.org.
