Managing Prospects Across Campaigns: Moves, 'No Campaigns' and Re-inviting

Last updated: October 23, 2026

A prospect's campaign assignment, communication status, and sequence progress are different things. Use the steps below to locate a prospect, understand why they moved or paused, and re-invite them when appropriate.

"Why did my prospect move to another campaign?"

When campaigns use overlapping search results or the same CSV, prospects may be transferred instead of added twice. The Add Prospects from Existing Campaigns setting is configured when creating a campaign. It applies when the new campaign is created after prospects already exist in the source campaign. Help guidance also says the most recently created campaign takes priority for overlapping prospects, so turning the setting on in an older campaign does not make it the destination.

To move a prospect who is already in the wrong campaign, go to Prospects, select the prospect, then choose Action > Change campaign and select the intended campaign. To move prospects through a shared search source, create or duplicate the intended destination after the source campaign already contains prospects. In the new campaign's Settings, enable Add Prospects from Existing Campaigns before saving, then run the search.

Profiles moved manually are not automatically transferred again by this setting. For more detail, see Campaign Settings: Add Prospects from Existing Campaigns & Recontact Prospects and How does “Add Prospects from Existing Campaigns” work?

"I can't find my prospect in a campaign"

Deleting a campaign or removing a prospect from it does not delete the prospect from your account. The prospect becomes Outside of Campaigns.

To find them, go to Prospects > Filter > Campaign Info > Campaign > Show Prospects Outside of Campaigns. Select the prospect, then choose Action > Change campaign and pick the campaign you want.

See Understanding “Outside of Campaigns” Prospects and How to Remove Prospects from Campaigns.

"I moved the prospect, but they are paused"

Prospects moved from another campaign may be paused to prevent duplicate outreach. A prospect can also remain paused if they completed steps in a previous campaign or were already paused before being added, even when Recontact Prospects is enabled.

If you have checked that outreach should continue, go to Prospects, filter by the campaign, select the paused prospects, and choose Action > Resume campaign. If the setting was enabled only after prospects were added, check the connected prospects for paused contacts.

"How do I invite a prospect again after their request was withdrawn?"

A withdrawn connection request returns the prospect to New. If the prospect remains in an active campaign, the system checks again after the cooldown and can automatically resend the request, usually about three weeks after withdrawal. You do not need to move the prospect just to trigger that resend. To check for a withdrawal, find the prospect in New and hover over the Campaign column for the notice “Connect with this profile was withdrawn.”

If you want to move the prospect into a new campaign with a connection-request step, enable both Add Prospects from Existing Campaigns and Recontact Prospects in that new campaign before saving. See Creating a Campaign for campaign setup details.

"Why did a follow-up message go out after a connection request was skipped?"

A skipped request does not always stop the next step. If you need to keep already-connected prospects out of a follow-up message, use a Smart Campaign and add an If connected condition before the message step. Route connected prospects away from the messaging path. There is no workspace-wide default for this condition, so include it in each campaign where you need this safeguard.

"Why does my prospect show “Connected / Paused” instead of “Finished”?"

Connected describes the prospect's connection state. Paused describes the campaign workflow. Finished means the prospect completed the campaign sequence; it does not simply mean they were already connected before the campaign began.

If you want the prospect to continue, review why they are paused first. Then select them in Prospects and choose Action > Resume campaign. For more on prospect communication statuses, see Overview of Prospect Statuses.
